While people often ask how to describe A Whole World of Good, we’ve found the answer is a resounding “yes.” Is it a fashionably delightful destination boutique? Unequivocally yes. A mercantile? Yes. A gift shop? Yes. An artisan marketplace? Yes. An organic craft coffee house? The best. Yes. A gathering place? Undoubtedly yes. Is it A Whole World of Good? Why, yes. Yes it is! In every way, yes!
Rather than fitting neatly into a single category, A Whole World of Good was intentionally created to offer something increasingly rare—a place where people naturally slow down, enjoy one another, discover beautiful things, and leave better than when they arrived. More than a boutique. More than a coffee house. More than a mercantile. It is a thoughtfully curated destination where beautiful things, exceptional hospitality, meaningful conversation, and everyday life come together under one roof.
A Whole World of Good exists to create a place where people naturally gather, experience extraordinary hospitality, discover beautiful things, support artisans and makers, strengthen the local community, beautify the downtown, gladden the hearts of those we serve, and introduce the culture of the Kingdom through everyday life.

The Mercantile
The first floor is the mercantile. It is the modern general store. The destination mercantile. The clothing boutique. The gift shop. The artisan marketplace. The organic craft coffee house. Inspired by the historic general stores and feed stores that once served as the heartbeat of every town, it is a place where there is something for everyone. Some come looking for the perfect dress. Others stop in for coffee. Some discover artisan goods or therapeutic teas. Others find the perfect gift, pantry staple, or something they never knew they needed. People don’t simply come for one thing. They come because they enjoy being here.
We believe curation is an act of stewardship. Every item is selected intentionally—not simply because it sells, but because it contributes to the kind of place we are creating. Whenever possible, we seek products that are beautifully made, responsibly sourced, useful, enduring, and worthy of recommendation. Inside A Whole World of Good, you’ll find a carefully curated collection of beautiful things chosen for their quality, usefulness, craftsmanship, and timeless appeal. Every shelf has been thoughtfully considered. Every display tells a story. Every product has earned its place. We believe beautiful things should be useful, lasting, worthy of becoming part of everyday life, and bring about lasting good.

Second Floor
The Upper Room
Upstairs. Made possible by The Emerging Sound 501(c)(3).
The second floor is The Upper Room. It is the community gathering space.
This is where Bible studies, board meetings, songwriting retreats, worship nights, family reunions, baby showers, recitals, classes, prayer gatherings, work-study, and creative collaboration take place. Books have been written here. Worship songs have been born here. Albums have been launched here. Artists have made their debut here. Prayer gatherings have filled the room. Enrichment classes have inspired lifelong learning. Family reunions have brought generations together. Fiftieth anniversary celebrations have honored faithful marriages. Baby showers have welcomed new life. Music recitals have celebrated young musicians. On many evenings, the sound of worship has poured into the streets of La Porte.
The Upper Room exists because of the generosity of The Emerging Sound 501(c)(3). Through the faithful support of its donors, The Emerging Sound 501(c)(3) preserves and provides this remarkable gathering space as part of its charitable mission to invest in people, projects, and places that advance the Kingdom of God. Here, education, creativity, discipleship, hospitality, and community life flourish every day, underscored by music that has traveled the world.

Better Together
The two floors serve different purposes, yet together they tell one story. The mercantile invites people in. The Upper Room invites them deeper. The Emerging Sound 501(c)(3) preserves and provides The Upper Room as a charitable community gathering space, while A Whole World of Good remains the destination mercantile on the first floor. The two complement one another without becoming the same thing.

Since 2014, The Emerging Sound has invested in people, projects, and places that advance the Kingdom of God. The Upper Room is one of them.
The Emerging Sound 501(c)(3) is an independent nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
The Good Folk Family of Brands
A Whole World of Good serves as the marketplace ministry and daily gathering place within the Good Folk family of brands. Together, these organizations exist to cultivate happier, healthier, and more whole people while strengthening families, neighborhoods, churches, and communities. While each organization has its own unique purpose, they share a common commitment to beauty, excellence, hospitality, stewardship, generosity, historic preservation, lifelong learning, and serving others with integrity.
At the end of the day, A Whole World of Good is about life to the full—where goodness is cultivated, community flourishes, and everyone leaves better than when they walked in.
